But, with a very demanding job, hours spent working, will she be able to balance her career and her private life?

Review:

Colette Kebell made an amazing job with this novel, the writing was flowing and effortless to read I've devoured it in a couple of work days. I can't wait to read more of her works.

The heroine of this chick-lit is incredible,I envy her strength and her perseverance.
Gigi doesn't let bad news take away her joy for fashion and the pleasure her advices bring to her clients.
The work of a fashion consultant in London is not easy but with a great work ethic and a bunch of good friends (old and new) you can survive every hardships and succeed.

I strongly recommend this story because I've enjoyed it a lot and being a business woman I could relate with our heroine struggles and satisfactions.

P.S. half point added for the american/italian chef whose name was not mangled xD

Excerpt:

“Come with me,” she whispered, with a sadistic grin on her face and heading upstairs. We started putting some of the old clothes in a bag and slowly we brought them downstairs to the kitchen, by the back door. She opened a cupboard and got out a couple of pairs of oversized dungarees, far too big for either of us but which we wore nonetheless, and two pairs of wellies. With a torch in her hand she started searching in the vast garden until she was satisfied and then said, “You stay here.” It was dark and I could barely see her walking in the general direction of the shed; a few thumping noises followed and then she reappeared with a pair of shovels and working gloves. She tossed a shovel to me. “Start digging the grave; I’ll be back in a minute,” she said, giggling like a teenager. I was flabbergasted; I’d thought she meant she’d bury her clothes in a figurative way, like at the bottom of the wardrobe. This was beyond belief! I pondered the situation for a moment and then I kicked the shovel in the ground; if we were going to make a mess, I’d better get started. The earth was soft from the previous days of rain and I could work quickly. I wondered for a moment if someone would see us, here in the garden, digging like a pair of tomb raiders, and would call the police.

“Ah good, you’ve started already,” she said, depositing the bags nearby.

“Natalie, I’m not digging a six-footer here!” I complained; that would have taken the whole night.

“Not to worry, sweetheart: just deep enough to let all this stuff rot with the worms.”
She started quarrying as well and after an hour we had to stop, because we were both quite tired but also because every few minutes we looked at each other and, without a word, we’d burst out laughing at what we were doing. I made a comment about the neighbours, and that also made her laugh out loud. “I’m going to put the kettle on,” she said eventually. “Take a break.”

I sat on the edge of the grave and let my legs float into the empty space; it was now almost a metre deep and perhaps it would have sufficed for the clothes. Natalie came back after a couple of minutes with the brews and we admired our work in silence. Eventually she was satisfied with the result and she tossed the lot in. Covering it up didn’t take too long.

“I’d pay to see the face of your gardener when he discovers this.”

Natalie burst out laughing again, and I had to sit down holding my belly at the thought of it. ---“

All of You by Lindsay Detwiler

Release Date: 01.27.2018

Synopsis:

A sexy doctor who’s restricted by expectations.

A quirky poet who’s defined by her dark past.

All it takes is Alex Evans saving Marley Jade one fateful night for their futures to be realigned. And when a passion sparks between them, they must decide if they can piece each other back together and make love work.

Review:

All Of You is a quite short story, you don't worry it won't leave you with a sense of incompleteness because Lindsay Detwiler has perfectly written and described the growth of her characters chapter after chapter until their happy ending.

Marley and Alex come from two very different worlds,a bartender in the best cofee shop of her little town, with a love for poetry the first and the hot new californian doctor in town the latter.
Their relationship starts as a friendship and flows smoothly as the water of a river until they have to face their baggages and fears in order to break free and finally live their lives at the fullest without any guilt and pressure from their pasts and families.

I really appreciated to read this lovely and heartbreaking at times but always interesting book.

Excerpt:

I swerved to the side of the road, certain she was gone, the blackness of her hair fluttering behind her and blending into the darkness of the night. Just like so many things in life, one second she was there, hunched into herself under the bright streetlights on the Cedar Bend Bridge, clutching something like it was her lifeblood. And then, in the next second, she was gone, slithered away as if she’d slipped through the cracks of life itself, obliterated from existence.

If I hadn’t been driving by, if I hadn’t seen her disappear with my own eyes, no one would have noticed her descent into darkness, into the lapping waters of the gentle river, or of her almost goodbye.

But I was there. I did see her.

The truth was, looking back, I should’ve seen her even before the fateful night that tossed our lives together.

I should’ve seen her in every goodbye I’d said before her. I should’ve seen her in every wistful dream I’d walked by and didn’t chase. I should’ve seen her in every empty seat beside me for the twenty-six years I didn’t know I was missing her.

She was the lifeblood I waited to uncover. She was the answer to the midnight wish I didn’t know I’d asked for. I wouldn’t know it until long after I first saw her. I couldn’t have known until I met her that I needed her.

Because when I swerved my car to the side of the bridge, chest heaving with adrenaline and fear, I had no idea Marley Jade would eviscerate everything I ever thought I knew about life. I didn’t know I would end up saving her that night and on many nights to come.

Most of all, I didn’t know she would save me from something I didn’t even know I needed saving from.

Hilaria Alexander definitely know what she wrote. The accurate descriptions of the places and the habits of the japanese are so real that I easily thought I was there with the characters while I was reading.

Review:

I've enjoyed this story.
I liked the suspanse, the hot scenes, the hot-tempered heroine who holds her own with the Hero.

Charlie is a great tattoo artist and that plus her fashion sense make her my favorite character.
Dorian is depicted as a playboy at the beginning but I appreciated how he changes when he is sure he wants a committed relationship.

This was the first time I've read these authors and I'm sure it won't be the last.I've liked their writing and their words kept my interest from the first page until the end.

Excerpt:

~Dorian~

Tomorrow I turn twenty-six. With no one around and nothing to do for the occasion I’ve decided that I’m going to treat myself. After scouring the town of Gatlinburg Connor came across The Den, tattoos and piercings. He went through their custom book and promises me that I’ll be happy with the choice. Of course, the way he says it, makes me wonder just what else is going on.

I toss on my jeans and work boots then a black tank and take out my diamond tunnels replacing them with five silver hoops. Three in the left ear and two in the right. My first hole is a ten gauge, followed by a twelve and then a fourteen. Nothing that they can complain about at the office, no matter what I wear. I put on my rings and gel up my dark brown hair and grabbing my Oakley’s I’m ready to go. First stop is the Mercedes-Benz dealer. My custom ordered 2017 GLS in metallic blue is ready for us to pick up. Now I can say good bye to the town car and be in something I’d actually like driving.

“Connor, you ready?” I holler coming out of my room.

“Aren’t I usually?” He metronomes at me. I like the guy but I swear sometimes he has the personality of a sea slug, but eh, he’s been with the family for more than a decade. He’s loyal and knows his shit. Taught me to fight and to be a gentleman. Not that I ever have much use for either skill. I pat his back and we head for the car and start our journey back into Gatlinburg.

Connor drops me off at the car dealership and takes the car back to the rental place while I finalize the paperwork here. The salesman Dick is excited to show me all the bells nad whistles. Like the built in WIFI, back up cams and Bluetooth radio. I smile and nod while he goes on about things I know all about. I mean I did order the shit, didn’t I? After about fifteen minutes of listening to him rapid fire sell me a SUV I already bought, I’ve had enough.

“Hey, Dick? I got it man, I’m buying it, stop tryin’ so fuckin’ hard.”

“Oh, well I- um…”

“Relax. You’ve got the sale, go smoke or something. Sheesh.”

Dick nods and then asks me to follow him to the back for the finalization. It took long enough. It’s already four fifteen, and I have an appointment to keep.

***

Ten to five and we’re pulling in to the parking lot of the strip mall that houses The Den. We’re about to make a right hand turn when out of nowhere a cherry red Ford F-450 Superduty cuts in front of us! “Fucking asshole!” I scream as Connor slams the breaks and my shoulder gets pulled. Fuck that shit hurts.

The truck just keeps going like they didn’t even see us. I watch as it parks while Connor is looking for a space. Out hops this tiny brunette wearing a fucking tutu! “What the fuck is wrong with people? Have they all lost their ever lovin’ minds?” I shake my head and Connor just laughs parking us.

“Let’s go Mister Sunshine and rainbows.” He urges me to get out of the SUV and I do, heading straight for the tattoo shop.

Walking inside I look around. It’s well-lit and smells clean. That’s a good start then I look over toward the desk and see the back end of a chick, bent down going through her purse. That wouldn’t be an issue except this chickie well she just so happens to be wearing boots and a tutu.

“Are you fucking serious?” I whisper to Connor who just shrugs and pushes me forward. “Aghem.” I clear my throat annoyed. “You know you should really watch where you put that cherry popper of yours.”

She bounces up to look at me. “Excuse me?” She asks.

“I would, but there’s really no excusing lousy driving. You damn near ran us into the meridian in the parking lot.” I point outside. “Missed hitting us by like a breath.”

She looks around, there are two guys sitting with their feet up in the back. She shrugs. “Oops.”

My blood is beginning to boil when I feel Connor grab my forearm.

“She’s the best in town, do you really want to piss her off and have to go to some mediocre joint down the road?”

I grind my teeth as Connor steps up.

“Charlie, wasn’t it?” He purrs. “We are here for you to work, please excuse Mister Gallagher, he’s a… Passionate man.”

“Let me go grab the sketch and see if that’s what the wants.”

Connor nods and I just stand there with my arms crossed. After a couple minutes, she reappears with a large sheet of paper, on it is my Celtic tree of life with the DNA symbol running through the root structure. I take it from her and examine it.

“Yeah, this works.” I answer back looking her over. Her hair is dark, and obviously long as she has it tied up and it’s falling every which way, Florescent pink strands popping out here and there. Her skin is nicely tanned and her eyes are green. A sharp contrast to the black that lines them. Her lips are painted deep purple which makes the silver ball in her labret pop and her ears are gauged, like mine, only larger, with open tunnels and rings threaded through. She’s cute, and tattooed, all five feet two inches of her.

“Did ya fil out your paper work?”

I reach in to my pocket and pull out the need materials. “Sure did. Now am I paying all upfront or per session? I know different parlors have different policies and I didn’t see the answer to that in the fine print.”

“That depends on you, if you want to pay it all up front pay upfront if you want to pay per session, by all means pay per session.”

“Alright, what are we looking at for the total?”

“I’d say based on the coverage, and time it’s going to take, six-fifty even.”

I nod and pull out my wallet, I had figured on a grand or more. Boy was she lowballing. Eh, whatever if she didn’t know what it was worth that’s not my problem, only my gain. I count out the money and hand it to her. “Alright, I’m ready when you are.”

She folds it down, shoving it in her tits and with a wave of her hand motions me toward the back.

Man Card by Sarina Bowen & Tanya Eby

Release Date: 01.15.2018

Synopsis:

Nothing ventured, nothing banged...

Ash

I still don't know how it happened. One minute I was arguing with my arrogant competitor--our usual trash-talk over who deserves the larger commission. But somehow I went from throwing down to kneeling down...
It can never happen again. I don't even like Braht. He's too slick. He's a manipulating mansplaining party boy in preppy clothes.
So why can't I get him out of my head?

Braht

There are two things I know without question. One: Ash and I are destined for each other. Two: never trust a man with a unibrow.
Ash is my missing my piece. She's the sweet cream to my gourmet espresso. And nothing gets me going faster than her contempt for me. They don't call her the Ashkicker for nothing.
Eventually I'll win her over...if my past doesn't ruin everything first.

Review:

Man Card was a really nice read with a different style than the first book in the series.
There are fewer loughing out loud moments but there is an interesting and captivating plot with some good sexy scenes.

We meet Ash and Braht in Man Hands and they are the main characters' best friends, working as realtors they try to one up each other.
Even if Ash tries to keep Braht at distance and to hate him for being always so perfect she has to surrender to the powerful chemistry that pulls them together.
I adored how Braht protects Ash from everything that could be stressful even if he doesn't know for sure they will become a couple or not.

This could be read as a stand alone but I recommend you to start from the beginning if you like an  hilarious rom com.

Excerpt:

Name your other favorite movies,” I challenge Braht.
All of them?” He chugs his margarita.
Hmm. Top ten? Top five?”
That’s totally easy,” he says. Somehow I’ve gotten closer to him on the floor. When he sits back, I actually snuggle in beside him. He’s wearing a ridiculously soft shirt that feels good against my skin. And I watch with fascination as he ticks off the names of films on his fingers. When Harry Met Sally. The Devil Wears Prada. Roman Holiday. Clueless. AndWorking Girl.”
I burst out laughing. I can’t help it. Those are all chick flicks. You should just hand over your man card right now.”
Not a chance.” Braht’s expression grows intense. In the first place, I gave you a very thorough demonstration of my man card last week. I don’t remember hearing any complaints.”
I swallow hard, because this is certainly true.
And secondly, you’re looking at this all backward.”
I…am?” And why can’t I look away? He has the most beautiful, intelligent eyes.
Yeah, you are,” he whispers. It’s the guy who has a firm grip on his man card that can hold your purse. He’s not afraid to be seen with that Tory Burch you like to carry—nice color, by the way. He’ll free up your hands because he likesyour hands, and he remembers all the terrific things you can use them for.”
Oh,” I say slowly. Now my fingers itch to reach out for him. I have to make fists with both hands so I won’t do it.
Furthermore, he’s not afraid to quote Working Girl. Because Joan Cusack is a genius. And who wouldn’t want to say Melanie Griffith’s best line out loud?”
I can’t help saying it with him, and together we sound like the world’s horniest Greek chorus: I have a head for business and a body for sin.”
Sin sounds pretty good right now, actually. But Braht’s not done with his speech. Any man who tells you that chick flicks are for pussies can’t be any good in bed. Because that man does not speak the language of women. He doesn’t know that a little luxury can erase a shitty day of worrying about your ex…”
Braht takes my hand in his and begins to massage it. He has a great technique, applying gentle pressure between each joint. I relax just a little bit more against him.
“…That man doesn’t speak the language because he’s afraid of sounding like a girl. But fuck that noise, honey bear. If a man doesn’t have the vocabulary to describe a satin teddy with peekaboo lace and mother-of-pearl snaps at the crotch, he can’t buy it for you and then strategically ask you to wear it. He can’t plan ahead to blow your mind sometime by lifting your skirt somewhere semi-public and dangerous. And he can’t get down on his knees and kiss that lace and then pop open those snaps while you bite your own hand to keep from screaming when you climax.” Braht takes a deep breath and lets it out in one hot gust. Fuck. What was the point of this speech?”
“Um…” My voice is hoarse, and my face is suddenly very hot. Let’s not even mention my nipples. Man cards, I think.” But I’m not sure, because everything tingles.
Right,” he says with a sigh. Still got mine. Shall we watch Working Girl next?”
Okay,” I breathe, sinking a little further into his comforting embrace.

.

Review:

First read of the year and I couldn't be more pleased.
I've patiently waited this story to be released since I've finished the previous book in the series....it is so nice to see that Matthew before and Allison now are all grown up.

Allison and Max journey from enemies to lovers is nice, entertaining and smexy.
I adored how their relationship gradually changes and grows chapter after chapter, making it more real and relatable.

You cannot stop reading this book after the prologue that promises a crackling story.

Excerpt:

“You may now kiss the bride,” Judge Reynolds says right before Max grabs my face in both of his hands.

“I love you,” he whispers, then his lips land on mine, gently and full of love.

My hands go to his waist as I close my eyes and take in the safety of my husband.

“I love you with everything that I am,” he murmurs against my lips. I smile and look into his crystal blue eyes.

“I love you more,” I say. He lets go of my face and we shake the judge’s hand. He grabs my hand and we walk out of his chambers while my chiffon train trails us.

Max proposed to me three hours ago. He got down on one knee and vowed to love me and only me till his last dying breath while I stood there in the middle of the shark reef in the Mandalay Bay. It took me two seconds before I nodded and got down on my knees with him, buried my face into his chest, and cried from happiness. I was completely and utterly in love with him. And not one person in my family knew. Well, none of the men knew. But this isn’t about them. This is about me, about Max, about how he took my heart into his hand and treated it like delicate crystal, making sure he bubble wrapped it to keep it safe.

Now here I am, watching my husband dressed in a black tux hold my hand and me in my two-piece lace dress. It is beaded from my collar all the way down. It ties around my neck but leaves my back bare. My arms are also bare. A gold belt ties the second part of the dress, floor-length split chiffon. My legs slip out while I walk, showing off my something blue, which is my Carrie Bradshaw Blue Manolo Blahnik.

As soon as the door to the chapel opens, my chiffon dress blows up almost like Marilyn Monroe’s, the hustle and bustle of Las Vegas almost non-existent since we are off the Strip. Someone in the distance must have snapped a picture because his flash went off.

“I think someone just took a picture of us,” I tell him while we make our way to the car that is waiting for us.

“Angel, it’s Vegas, everyone is taking pictures.” He waits for me to get in before climbing in after me. “So, my wife, where do you want to go?” Max turns to me and smiles while his thumb rubs the hand he’s holding.

“Back to our room.” I look at our hands. “I want to go back with you and lock the door and just be with my husband.”

“I was hoping you’d say that.” He pulls me to him, his arm going around my shoulder, and I fit perfectly in the crook of his arm.

We watch the city lights come into focus again once we get on the Strip. Walking through the lobby, I hold on to my husband’s hand, watching his ring glisten in the light. Max unlocks the door for us. Walking in, I head for the living room that is now turned into what looks like a small reception. Gone are the couches, and in their place is a cast iron square with blush pink roses wrapped all around it. Tea lights make it across. All the furniture is gone. The only thing in this room are blush roses, which are my favorites.

“This place looks like a fairy tale.”

Max walks to me, holding a bouquet in his hands. “For you.” He hands it to me as our song “Dive” comes on.

“Dance with me?” I ask him as I walk to him.

“Every single day of my life.” He wraps an arm around my waist. I hold the bouquet around his shoulders and we hold our free hands to his chest.

He takes his phone out and raises his hand, snapping a picture of us. I’m looking at the camera while he looks at me. “Stunning,” he says quietly as his cell phone rings. “Angel, don’t freak out.” His voice is curt, tight.

I don’t have to time to say anything because my phone buzzes with a text from Matthew.

Allison, when you get this you better call me.

“Oh my God.” I look at him. “What did we just do?” He looks at me shocked, steps back, and away from me.

“Max.” I reach out to him while he dodges me.

“A mistake.”

I don’t know if he’s asking or telling. My heart hurts as his eyes go dark. He darts out of the room and the front door slams after him. As I stand here in my wedding dress, a tear rolls down my face, and I look down and see my glistening wedding band.
