Rough Shot by Kat Mizera

Synopsis:

From the first moment I laid eyes on Zoe in that Paris nightclub I knew it was love. Nothing else could explain the intensity I felt for the petite blond. She wasn’t my usual type, but she didn’t even blink at my scars, muscles, and voracious sexual appetite. A big, burly hockey player, brought to my knees by a woman a fraction my size.

Everything was going great. Until I asked her to marry me. I’m Russian and she’s Swiss. The only way we can be together is if we get married, but she won’t even consider it. I don’t know what the hell I’m going to do, but leaving hockey to move to Switzerland isn’t an option.

When my ex-fiance left me at the altar, I was devastated. It took nearly three years for me to get over it and I vowed I’d never let anyone get that close again. Then I met Slava and realized I’d never truly been in love before. He’s everything a man should be—strong, sexy, successful, and tender. But I can’t marry him. I was going to lose him if I couldn’t get over my fears, so I did the only thing I I let him go.

When the past rears its ugly head, Slava is the only one who can save me. But letting him back in could destroy us both.

Review:

Zoe, an eauropean student, and Slava, a Russian NHL player, met in Paris and it was lust at the first sight. They tried to have a long distance relationship, but when things became more serious and Slava thinks at the marriage, a confused Zoe asks him more time to think at her future. Now six months passed and Slava is determined to reconquer her, because he knows she is the one.

I adored Slava, he is kind and love Zoe so much he tries to understand her insecurities, he doesn't want to put any pressure on her, but, he is still set to help her in any way he can. Zoe is scared of what their uncertain future could bring. She is a young woman who's still studying for her dream job, I loved her passion for teaching and her need to be indipendent, but at times she was unnerving. I've supported this couple, and wished for their happily ever after because I could feel their phisical connection and their deep feelings on every page, they are perfect for each other.

I liked the friendship between the main and side characters, they are a very nice group of people that care about each other. It was a pleasure to read their trips.

I loved how this story ended, I am looking forward to reading more books by this author.
