Lace 'em Up by Elise Faber

Synopsis:

I’d decided long ago it was easier to pretend embrace my namesake than to try to prove myself to the world.

No one ever had ever seen through that…
Until I rescued a runaway bride from the side of the road.

Then my mom—my interfering, matchmaking mom—saw the diamond ring, made assumptions I didn’t have the heart to dispel, and, suddenly, Rory and I were pretending to be engaged.

Only…somewhere along the way, it became real...Somewhere along the way, I realized I could never let her go.

Review:

Lace 'em Up is a good, entertaining and emotional read.

Aurora runs away from her wedding reception to find herself stranded on the roadside. Kingston is spending his last few days before hockey season starts riding his motorbike, when he sees a woman in distress by the side of the road, and he decides to take her home. They already knew each other, they don't have the best opinion of each other but at this critical moment King decides to take care of Rory. What could it go wrong living with the unsufferable Prickly Princess?

I liked this couple so much. Despite their initial thoughts, Rory and King are perfect together. They are both kind, altruist and from their past experiences they think they don't deserve love. I adored how
King takes care of Rory, he is tender and soft with her, he makes her feel so safe that slowly their spats end leaving room for more insightful talks.

Elise Faber wrote I very good romance, with a great humour and chemistry among the characters, but she is still believable adressing some more serious theme.

This was the first book of this collection written by various authors, but I'm already looking forward to read more about the Bang family.
