Review:

A Manhattan Heiress In Paris is a beautiful tale about freedom. Freedom from social conventions, freedom from judgement and the freedom of being our true selves.

Jack and Elizabeth found their freedom through the music in the wonderful and outlandish Paris of the 20s of the last century.

Elizabeth Van Hoeven and Jack Coleman come from worlds apart, the first is a white lady from the Fifth Avenue who plays the piano, a black trumpatist from Harlem the latter, but their worlds collide in the beauty of the music. They know that is risky for them to fall in love, but when the fate makes them meet in Paris they try to live in their artistic bubble full of love and happiness.

"People like them couldn't belong together. But, just for that one flashing instant in the Parisian night, she was his-and he was hers forever."

I loved these characters. Eliza naivety and her dreamy attitude are endearing, Jack deep affection and sense of protection for Eliza are swoon worthy. Jack and Eliza are a match made in heaven, they understand each other so well they can see each other soul.

I appreciated how Amanda McCabe depicted these dark times of our history, she told a credible story without too much heaviness.
Reading about some famous writers, painters, composers and musicists helped me to best frame the period this story took place.

I recommend to read this book.
