Unexpected Gifts was a nice and heartwarming story, that conveys a positive message of family and community.
Abby moves to Sugarville Grove to take care of her cousin's kids after her unexpected death. Here she begins a long journey to adapt to her new life as a mother of two, fortunately she won't be alone because the neighbours will help her.
I enjoyed Abby and Luke relationship development. There is an instant complicity between them, but they decide to take their time to explore their feelings in order to give their children the best and the most peaceful Christmas they can.
Tess Thompson writing has touched me, I cried and I smiled along with the characters. I appreciated that the mentioning of the faith wasn't too intrusive but still hopeful.
I recommend to pick this book and to be transported to this pictoresque small town.
