Synopsis:

In Mystic Hills, blood is power.

After solving her aunt's murder, Belinda Harbinger, preschool teacher and amateur sleuth, hoped for a peaceful summer, but a magical game wreaks havoc in her newly inherited tearoom, splitting her friends into identical twins with distinctly different personalities.

The perplexing selection of victims—a banker, librarian, real estate agent, and a lawyer—leaves Belinda mystified. Could Reed, the man she’d loved and lost, be an unintended casualty?

When one of each twin starts to go missing, Belinda faces a race against time. Someone wants their blood, a vital ingredient to create spells and charms. She must unravel this riddle and find a way to merge the twins back into their original selves before they cease to exist.

Armed with her ability to communicate with ghosts, a scary new witch friend who specializes in vengeance hexes, and a handsome fairy healer, will Belinda solve the "Double Trouble in Mystic Hills" before it’s too late?

Review:

Belinda Harbinger is still getting used to her new reality as a gifted person in Mystic Hills. This little town inhabited by witches, fairies and gifted people, is a place of political intrigue and mysteries that Belinda tries to solve without causing too many troubles.

In this second installment Belinda has to find a way to reunite some people that got split into two halves, each one of them with their personality oftentime at war with one other.

I love Belinda, she is a nice woman that's still coming to understand how to live in Mystic Hills. She is still to naive for that cove of witches, but she is quickly learning. I appreciated that the few people she can trust help and protect her.

Chris Cannon took me on a great ride. Her characters comes out of the page, they are well depicted, funny, endearing and also scary. It feels like you could see a sprite drinking tea from a small cup in your kitchen at any time. The storyline was enjoyable, and the mystery revealed only at the end made me turn the pages voraciously till the last one.

This book is magic. I did need a nice paranormal cozy mystery and Double Trouble In Mystic Hills ticked all my preferences. You can read this novel as a standalone, but I recommend to read the previous one to understand Belinda's situation better.

I’m looking forward to this series continuing to see what's next for our heroine and her friends.
